Current Space is excited to announce the second annual Good Light photography exhibition with a lecture by distinguished guest speaker Daniel Shea. This year boasts a roster of forty-five photographers from Baltimore and beyond and will feature a gallery exhibition and slideshow of photographic works. An exhibition catalog will be available for sale at the opening.
There will be a suggested five-dollar donation to support the Current Space Community Darkroom and photo programming.

Daniel Shea

Daniel Shea is an artist based in New York City working primarily in the mediums of photography, installation and sculpture. Currently exploring mythology, fiction and history set against a backdrop of post-industrial ruins and detritus, he recently received an MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2013. In 2012 he published his first monograph, Blisner, Ill. in conjunction with a long-term residency at Columbia College Chicago and a book release at the Museum of Contemporary Photography. The follow-up trade edition, Blisner, IL is scheduled to be published by the end of the year by fourteen-nineteen books. He has exhibited recently at The DePaul Art Museum, The Museo de Arte Acarigua-Araure, Venezuela, MDW Art Fair, Andrew Rafacz Gallery, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Asia Society in Beijing, and LVL3 Gallery, among others. In the fall of 2013 he will be working as an adjunct professor of photography at The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore two days a week. He takes commissions for magazines including Time, the Fader, Wired, Whitewall, Bloomberg Businessweek, and Esquire Russia.
Current Space is an artist-run gallery, studio, and headquarters for cultural production. In its eight years of operation, Current Space has put together over two hundred and fifty events including, art exhibits, music shows, lectures, plays, performances, book signings and film screenings. Current Space has been apart of Baltimore Liste, Rooms Play, Transmodern Festival, Artscape, Whartscape, and the Maryland Historical Society Auction. Current Space has two galleries, twelve artist studios, one music practice studio a community darkroom and a silkscreen studio. Current Space is committed to showcasing, developing, and broadening the reach of artists locally and internationally.
