In Stars Exalt The Darkening Sky, I turned NO/ Gallery (Ghent, Belgium) itself into the central image of a solo exhibition. I decided to expand a one line poem by Stephanie Barber, "Mysteriously stars continue to exalt the darkening sky", into a longer piece of prose and use it as a foundation in expressing a non-linear sense of time; of human and cosmic timescales dissolving into one another. Though dense with reflections and silhouettes, it shows a mirror-image of the interior space of the gallery superimposed on the street outside, illuminated by an early Carmelite church and the night sky. The piece was installed parallel to the storefront window it depicts, adding yet another layer, and many viewers expressed strong feelings of temporal dislocation while spending time with it.
The photo of the orange is titled after Eileen Myles poem, Epic For You.
